David Hill, of Modern Epic, and I are in the processes of creating
the blog Musicking. The blog will feature articles, links, music,
and pictures about obscure music and world music. With your
support, we hope to create a dialog that will inspire creativity
and also push David and I to research more topics that you are
interested in learning about. Look for our facebook group!
Welcome! This site is designed to provide descriptions and easy navigation to the many musical services that I offer in Springfield, MO and surrounding areas. Once completed, it will also function as an educational tool to expand your musical knowledge of classical and jazz genres as well as world music. Moreover, this site will keep you updated on my own musical endeavors and the local music scene.
If you would like to schedule an appointment, leave a comment, or inquire about other services not listed, please scroll to the bottom of the page and fill out the appropriate form. Thanks!

About Me
When I was five, I was enrolled in gymnastics. After being in the program for a decent amount of time and not being able to perform a simple cartwheel, I was told that I needed to try something different—piano lessons.
From elementary through high school my appreciation of classical and jazz music grew. This came as my ability to play piano improved, as I was exposed to different genres of music, and as I entered music competitions, attended concerts, and participated in jazz camps and other music workshops.
These experiences soon became a passion. I began as a piano performance major at William Jewell, a small liberal arts college in Liberty, MO. There, I continued to participate in jazz combos, choir, and master classes. Then the opportunity to study abroad in Milan, Italy arose.
While in Milan, I studied at the prestigious music conservatory La Accademia Internazionale della Musica. I attended concerts, as well as my first professional opera, at the world famous theater, La Scalla. The music that decorates the intricate history of Europe followed me home. Nevertheless, I also felt that all of my experiences culminated to too large of a dose of Western Classical music. There was more to explore!
I decided to move home to Springfield and continue my music studies at Missouri State University. There, I combined the study of music with cultural anthropology. This revitalized my thoughts of music and also sent me in a new direction—ethnomusicology. Simply put, ethnomusicology is the study of indigenous music from around the world. Some examples of indigenous music in North America include Native American music, Bluegrass, Appalachian, etc. The enthusiasm I developed for world music sent me to Xela, Guatemala where I studied Spanish and became involved with their community as well as their culture and music.
Now, with a Bachelors of Art in Music and Anthropology, I have not decided what path I will take. Eventually, I would like to join the Peace Corps or continue my education in graduate school. Regardless of where I end up, I know that my love of music, travel, languages, and culture will be my guide. For now, I am working to build up my repertoire and compositions for various genres of music and I will continue to perform and teach lessons.
